Alcatel Officially enters Pakistan’s Mobile Phone Market

Alcatel, an award winning brand of TCL Communications, announced it has formally started its operations in Pakistan by introducing the complete range of Alcatel mobiles, smartphones, mobile broadband products & tablets. Alcatel has already announced that they have appointed i2 Pakistan  as the distribution partner in Pakistan. An event was held on Saturday evening at Pearl Continental hotel in Lahore to mark the occasion.

The company has introduced 4 smartphones and 3 feature phones with prices ranging from Rs. 1,700 to Rs. 26,000. The smartphone lineup includes last years flagship Idol 3, X1, Pop up and Pop star. It merits mentioning here that all of these devices are already one year old first introduced under the name Alcatel OneTouch (The company later rebranded it self). When asked about the availability of new devices with latest versions of Android, i2 officials have promised to bring them with in the next 6 months.

Speaking on the occasion, Nauman Durrani General Manager Middle East , Pakistan and Egypt Alcatel  said “Alcatel, is an international brand and one of the largest  mobile supplier with 23 R&D facilities and 21 factories across the globe . We are super excited to start the operations in Pakistan. We see Pakistan as a high growth market and with 3G and 4G penetration our aim would be to connect the Pakistani’s with the best in class innovative mobile devices at affordable prices.

Alcatel Pakistan operations are led by ex-Microsoft, Mr. Farhan Khan. He is appointed to be the Country Manager Pakistan and Afghanistan. During the launch even, Farhan gave a brief intro of Alcatel and the services provided by the company. He claimed that Alcatel is the 5th largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world and they are aiming to become no.1 brand in Pakistan.

The launch event concluded with a dinner and musical performance arranged for over 400 mobile phone dealers.
